Bollinger Canopy of Peace

In 2017, the New Orleans skyline will see the addition of signature piece of sculptural architecture as The National WWII Museum receives the crowning touch on its expansion.
The monumental Bollinger Canopy of Peace will extend overhead to unify the entire Museum campus, impacting the visitor experience in many ways: with Founders Plaza, the Canopy will create a magnificent arrival experience; it will create inviting shade over the Museum's outdoor spaces; and it will be a high-tech attraction, as the centerpiece for a patriotic sound-and-light show. The Canopy's presence on the skyline also is a sign of the Museum's importance to New Orleans, as a major driver of hotel room-nights, jobs, and positive media attention.
It also serves as a symbolic pinnacle to the Museum experience, according to Museum president and CEO Nick Mueller: "Reflecting the strength and beauty of the American Spirit, the Canopy visually unifies the Museum campus, evoking the slogan that inspired Americans on the home front during the war, 'We’re all in this together!'"
