BY THE NUMBERS: JAPANESE AMERICAN INTERNMENT:
Japanese Relocation and Internment
After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the United Staties became suspicious of all Americans of Japanese descent. On February 19, 1942, President Roosevelt authorized the internment of Japanese Americans in "War Relocation Camps." Japanese Americans, especially those on the West Coast, were forced to leave their homes and live in the camps through most of the war.
